Despite high literacy rates of education for girls, early marriage of girls (below 18 years old) remains a problem in some areas of Jordan. The legal text of article 10b of the Jordanian Personal Code permits marriage for young girls ''in case of public interest''. This phenomenon has grave consequences on girls and violation of their right to life, personal safety, and freedom. A high shchool Jabal Al Nadheef Area in Amman was selected by the group as a pilot area after they conducted an assessment of the problem among the school girls aged 12-18 years.
